How does secure ordering work?

The security features are automatic, you don't need to do anything special. After you've confirmed the products(s) you want to buy and selected a payment method, you'll be prompted to continue your order by clicking on the 'Submit Order' button. At this point, your browser looks for a 'site certificate' to confirm that it is communicating with ASN First Aid. Once a positive ID is made, your order continues.

At this point your order will enter a 'Secure Mode'. Your computer and our server begin communicating and sending data back and forth in an encrypted format. The encryption features of browser software are extremely powerful thus ensuring the security of your data as it is transmitted to our server.

How do you know when your browser is in secure mode?

A browser in secure mode will display a website address beginning 'https://' rather than the standard 'http://'. The 's' stands for 'secure'. In Netscape Navigator (versions 3.0 and earlier), the broken key symbol in the lower left corner of your browser window will become a solid key in secure mode. If you're using Netscape Communicator 4.0, look for the padlock in the same space: it's open in standard mode and closed in secure mode. In Microsoft's Internet Explorer, you'll see a padlock symbol at the bottom of your browser window when the browser is in secure mode.

What if my browser does not support secure mode?

Because we don't want you ever to have to worry about ordering from our site without a secure connection, we've designed our system so that it will process orders only with browsers in secure mode. Feel free to browse our catalogue and download free the latest versions of Netscape's and Microsoft's browsers that have the necessary security features.
